CDL Empire Mobile App Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 22, 2026

This policy explains what the CDL Empire iOS and Android apps collect, why, and the choices you have. It supplements our general Privacy Policy, which applies to everything we do.

1. What the app collects

Account information

When you sign in, we identify you by the email address on your CDL Empire account. The app receives the same profile data you see on cdlempire.com — your CDL info, employment history, documents, applications, preferences, and messages.

Location (drivers only, optional)

When you create a live-location share link, the app collects your GPS position every 15 seconds and sends it to the people holding the share link, until you either revoke the link or it expires. We do not collect your location at any other time and we do not track background location. You are in control — no share link, no GPS collection.

Camera and Photo Library

The app uses your camera and photo library only when you explicitly pick a photo to upload — typically to scan a document (CDL, medical card, MVR, drug test) or photograph a service job. The app does not open the camera in the background or browse your photos without your action.

Microphone (drivers, Co-Pilot)

If you use the voice Co-Pilot (Ruby / Ruben), the app records your spoken audio, transmits it to our transcription provider (OpenAI), and deletes the audio immediately after transcription. We store the resulting text so the Co-Pilot remembers you across sessions, subject to our memory cap and your ability to delete memories.

Push notification tokens

When you allow notifications, we store an Expo push token tied to your account so we can deliver messages, job alerts, application updates, and (for mechanics) nearby service requests. The token is delivered to Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) to actually send the push. You can opt out per-category in the app under Profile → Settings → Push notifications, or turn off notifications entirely in your device settings.

Device diagnostics

We collect basic crash and error reports through Sentry so we can fix bugs. These reports include the device model, OS version, app version, the code path that crashed, and a stripped stack trace. They do not contain your messages, documents, or personal content.

4. Your choices

5. Children

CDL Empire is a professional platform for commercial drivers. A CDL requires you to be at least 18 (or 21 for interstate). The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

6. Changes to this policy

We'll update the "last updated" date when we change this policy. Material changes will also be surfaced in-app.
